ANNUAL ENROLLMENT PERIOD FOR MEDICARE
Medicare Annual open enrollment is almost here, are you ready? Starting Oct. 15th through Dec. 7th, you have the opportunity to review your current insurance coverage and healthcare needs and make changes that will serve you best during 2020. During open enrollment, you have the chance to change your Medicare plan to fit your changing needs.
You need to pay attention to all of the different Medicare parts:
- Part A covers hospitalization, skilled nursing facilities, hospice care, and home health care.
- Part B includes doctors and outpatient services, as well as some preventive services.
- Part C is also called Medicare Advantage, and it is a combination of parts A and B and usually Part D.
- Part D covers prescriptions at different amounts depending on your plan and coverage level.
Here are some quick tips when looking at different options available to you. Don’t just look at a plan’s premiums! Plan premiums are not always the best gauge of what your total out-of-pocket costs will be during the year. It is best to check whether the doctors you currently see are in the plan’s network you are considering switching to. Make sure all the drugs you have been prescribed are covered in your prescription plan. If you are curious about switching Medicare plans, it could mean a different copay amount.
